The Geeky Parent Guide is a semi-monthly editorial series by Fanbase Press Contributor (and father of two) Travis Lakata that will help parents and other caregivers to safely and positively navigate various avenues of pop culture with their children.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 4 is a tragically great season for parents to let their kids watch. Although my four and six-year-old kids are too young to watch anything beyond Season 1, this season deals with an overarching theme that is quite relevant in the history of the world: doing the right thing.

We are thrilled to chat with Clarissa Thorne, creator of the geek crafting book, A Geek’s Guide to Cross-Stitch: Journeys in Space, published through Fanbase Press. Today, you’ll get a glimpse into the creative process behind this book and how being a parent might’ve impacted Clarissa’s special journey to starting and completing this project.

If you can’t wrap your head around another new year just yet, let’s take a moment to look back at some incredible 2018 achievements in one of our favorite subjects: space.

Avengers: Infinity War. San Diego Comic-Con. The International Space Station. Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

It’s been 15 years since the release of The Lord of the Rings (LOTR): The Return of the King, and after 15 years, I am still utterly fascinated with Aragorn. This character, among a sea of fantastic characters in LOTR, is one of the greatest movie characters of all time in the greatest trilogy ever. Putting the debate of the greatest trilogy aside for another time, I want to focus on the hero – one parents will be proud for their kids to emulate in their future years.

As the holiday season fills our houses with bright lights, colorful decorations, and cheerful music, let’s not forget about some movies that are perfect to watch over the holiday season. Yes, there are classics like Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life, or you can pick your favorite rendition of A Christmas Carol. Today, let’s take a look at two distinctly different films that have their own place during the winter season.

As a parent, many times, you’ll find yourself watching TV shows or movies your kids are interested in watching. You might watch shows ahead of time to make sure the content is appropriate for their ages, such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Sometimes, in those moments, you will realize you’ve become a fan of something that may already wildly popular, yet it’s brand new to you.

Watching my kids laugh and have fun is a massively satisfying thing. So, when I decided to write an article on playing board games with them, I had a pretty good idea that silliness would ensue – whether from them or me.

Do you love Halloween? As we approach your favorite month of the year, decorations are being put up and some of us (That would be me.) love seeing our kiddos reactions to all of the spooky houses along our route when walking around the neighborhood.

As I look back at Season 1 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and how much I recommended it for parents to watch with or have their kids watch, I feel there needs to be a pause button on younger children continuing on to Season 2. Today on the Geeky Parent Guide, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Clone Wars (October 3), let’s explore why I believe kids like my own, ages 4 and 5, might want to have their parents watch the second season of the hit show before your kids watch it.
