As we begin the story, Frank, the Liam Neeson-type character, kidnaps an old friend/work acquaintance named Al and tortures him (rather graphically) to find out information about his daughter’s whereabouts. Then, we’re treated to flashbacks of a top secret government facility, many years ago, where Frank and Al are being groomed as weapons for the military using their powers.
It’s a compelling story so far, if a bit violent, with artwork that’s interesting and colorful. It’s still too early to tell what the comic will be like long term (It’s a 6-issue arc.), but it’s good enough to warrant coming back for the next installment. Essentially, all you need to know at this point is “Taken, with superpowers.” If that’s the sort of thing that would appeal to you, then you’ll probably want to check out I Play the Bad Guy.
