Produced by the Madcaps of Science, a new theatre company which produces plays about high science in a low-tech kind of way, The God Particle Complex was first presented as a staged reading at Caltech and was later performed in the 2012 Hollywood Fringe Festival. I had the pleasure of interviewing the show's co-writer, Joshua Zeller, prior to the festival, and learned a great deal about the science behind the play and Zeller's own love of sci-fi. Since its presentation at the festival, The God Particle Complex has undergone some workshopping by the show's creators and also incorporated a few new actors, including JR Reed (Tenacious D, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny) as "The Visitor," a hilarious time traveler who repeatedly leaves the audience laughing.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com for a reduced price of $10.00. In addition, tickets will be available at the door (cash only) for $15.00, or $12.00 for students. More information is also available on Facebook and at the official Madcaps of Science website.
The God Particle Complex will run every Saturday night at 10 p.m. through February 9, 2013. The show is approximately 53 minutes in length.
