Predator: Life and Death #4, the final part in this first arc of the Life and Death cycle, is fun. I’ve said it before, I’m not a huge fan of the Predator, and here they don’t do a lot, nor do they win a lot, but Abnett, Thies, and Beredo have created a visceral experience that’s quite simply fun. It’s like Aliens mashed together with Predator.

That being the case, what really shines here are the Colonial Marines who are now split into two groups (which is always exciting) and are forced to fight for their lives while trying to recover some property of the Weyland-Yutani company. You have a few Marines that we connect with, both equally driven at this point, both with a lot to lose. One: the soldiers they command, and two: their dignity. 

I’m glad the cycle started with the Predators, because it is such a base and clear man versus monster conflict. Prometheus and Alien have the potential to become a little more existential. (Fingers crossed.)
