Throughout 2020, Fanbase Press' weekly Creator Forums provided comics industry professionals with an opportunity to discuss ways to cope with the changing comics landscape in light of the Coronavirus.  As a new year begins and the impact of COVID-19 continues, it is not lost on us that comic book conventions - and the opportunity to connect with industry colleagues personally and professionally - will not take place for the foreseeable future.  To provide further opportunities to connect with industry creators, publishers, media, retailers, and educators during our collective quarantine, Fanbase Press will launch Comics & Coffee on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 10 a.m./PT (1 p.m./EST).  Fanbase Press' Comics & Coffee will be a FREE hour-long Zoom session taking place every Saturday, welcoming new and experienced comics pros to a virtual meetup that aims to fill the convention-less void with networking opportunities, sharing creative successes and failures, and troubleshooting ways to navigate the industry in the weeks and months to come.

As Fanbase Press continues its 10th anniversary celebration this year, the award-winning publisher and geek culture website continues its mission to produce new and distinctive works that give voice to the themes, ideals, and people that make geekdom so exceptional.  In light of the worldwide impact of COVID-19 being felt by our communities and those striving to find a path forward, Fanbase Press has chosen to postpone the release of its comic book series, Nuclear Power, to be mindful to its creative team and their families in these challenging times.  The 6-issue series is an alternate history tale of the Cuban Missile Crisis, written by Desirée Proctor and Erica Harrell (Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Michonne, DC Comics New Talent Showcase 2017) and illustrated by Lynne Yoshii (DC's Gotham City Garage, Inside the Loop, DC Comics New Talent Showcase 2017).  The series is now slated for a digital-first release of the single issues via Hoopla and ComiXology starting in April 2021, followed by the release of a printed trade paperback in October 2021.  For a sneak peek of the creators' hard work on the series, Fanbase Press is thrilled to share the first four issue covers created by artist Yoshii.
